Structure Fire

The Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 9:04 a.m. for a reported residential structure fire involving a detached garage.

Chief Pruitt responded with Command 2, accompanied by Paramedic A801. Engine 203, staffed by Assistant Chief Cavanaugh and three firefighters, joined the response, along with Tanker 2 and Brush 204, each staffed with two firefighters. Tanker 303 responded with three firefighters, and Brush 3 was staffed with one Fire Police officer.

Upon arrival, Chief Pruitt established command and reported heavy fire coming from the detached garage. Ambulance Paramedic A801 staged for rehabilitation support. Engine 203 arrived and began attacking the fire, while Tanker 2 provided a water supply. Tanker 303 brought additional water to the scene, and Brush 3 assisted with traffic control.

Command requested additional personnel and assistance from Station 5 and Worcester Station 1 in Pocomoke, with Engine 102 responding and staffed by three firefighters.

Firefighters were able to suppress the blaze within 20 minutes, and command declared the situation under control. Station 5 and Worcester Engine 102 were canceled. The Fire Marshall's office was requested and had a travel time from Salisbury. The total on-scene time was approximately one and a half hours. Paramedic A801 transported one person by ground to Tidal Health for minor injuries sustained from the fire. No firefighters sustained injuries.

Once the Fire Marshall arrived and the scene was briefed, Chief Pruitt terminated command, and all units returned to their stations.
