Smoke Detector Activation

At 8:13 a.m., the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a residential home on Hudson Street following a smoke detector activation. The resident reported the alarm but was unsure of the cause.

Engine 203, staffed with Assistant Chief Cavanaugh and two firefighters, responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Cavanaugh established command and began an investigation. No smoke or fire was visible from the exterior of the home.

After a thorough check, it was determined that the smoke detector had malfunctioned due to depleted batteries. The occupants were advised to replace the batteries in the smoke detector.

The situation was declared under control. Command was terminated, and Engine 203 returned to quarters.
