August 1, 2026

In 2026, August is recognized as A Month for Safety Awareness, alongside several national safety observances, including Summer Sun Safety Month, National Immunization Awareness Month, and National Wellness Month.

A Month for Safety Awareness serves as a broad national call to promote workplace and public safety. Throughout August, campaigns such as Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, Stop on Red Week, and Safe + Sound Week highlight important safety measures for both individuals and organizations.

Summer Sun Safety Month focuses on skin cancer prevention and heat-related safety tips, such as staying hydrated, protecting skin from the sun, and avoiding heat stroke.

National Immunization Awareness Month emphasizes the importance of routine vaccinations for all age groups, with a focus on COVID-19 and other preventable diseases.

National Wellness Month encourages everyone to adopt healthy habits, participate in physical activity, and support mental wellness.

Back to School Safety becomes a priority with reminders about safe driving, pedestrian safety, and school bus safety tips for families and communities.

With hot and dry conditions typical in August, fire prevention remains especially relevant, urging caution to reduce fire risks both at home and outdoors.
