Apparatus

Engine 203

Engine 203

Engine 203 is a 2002 Pierce engine powered by a Detroit Diesel 60 Series engine with an automatic transmission. The unit is equipped with a Hale Class A pump rated at 1,500 gallons per minute.

Engine 203 carries 1,000 feet of large-diameter hose, two 200-foot crosslays, and a 100-foot front trash line, allowing the crew to support a variety of fire suppression operations, including initial attack, water supply, and exposure protection.

Tanker 2

Rescue Engine 202

Rescue Engine 202 is a 1996 Pierce apparatus powered by a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine. The unit is equipped to support both fire suppression and light rescue operations.

Rescue Engine 202 carries a 1,000-gallon water tank and a 1,500 GPM Class A fire pump, providing strong initial attack capability for structure fires, vehicle fires, brush fires, and other fireground operations.

The engine is outfitted with 1,400 feet of large-diameter supply hose, two 200-foot crosslays, and a 100-foot front trash line for quick deployment on smaller fires, vehicle fires, and exterior fire attack.

In addition to its fire suppression equipment, Rescue Engine 202 serves as a light rescue unit. It carries Hurst rescue tools, saws, air bags, and other equipment used for vehicle accidents, technical assistance calls, and rescue-related incidents.

With its combination of water, hose, pump capacity, and rescue equipment, Rescue Engine 202 remains a versatile piece of apparatus for emergency response.

Tanker 2

Tanker 2

Tanker 2 is a 2012 Pierce mounted on a Freightliner chassis. It is powered by a Detroit Diesel with an automatic transmision that can pump and roll. It provides water supply support with a 2,800-gallon tank and a 750-gallon-per-minute pump.

Tanker 2 is equiped with 2 cross lays, various size house, and a 3,000 gallon folding tank.

This unit is especially valuable in areas where hydrants may be limited or unavailable, helping ensure a steady water supply during fireground operations.

Ladder 2

Ladder 2

Ladder 2 is a 1988 Pierce aerial apparatus equipped with a 107-foot aerial ladder and powered by a Detroit Diesel engine and a automatic transmission. The ladder truck supports elevated master stream operations, roof access, ventilation, rescue, and other truck company functions.

Brush 2

Brush 2

Brush 2 is a 1-ton GMC brush unit designed for off-road and wildland response. It is equipped with a 225-gallon water tank, a 300-gallon-per-minute pump, and 600 feet of forestry line.

 

Marine 2

Marine 2

Marine 2 is a 32-foot fire and rescue boat built by Chesapeake Boat Builders. The vessel was donated by owner David Mason Sr. and is powered by twin 250-horsepower Mercury Optimax motors.

Marine 2 is equipped with navigation equipment, electronics, and radar to support emergency response and operations on the water.

Utility Truck

The department’s 2007 military-style utility truck is used to support emergency operations during flooding and other severe weather incidents.

This high-clearance vehicle provides added capability when road conditions are impacted by rising water, debris, or storm damage. During flooding events, the utility truck can assist with moving personnel, transporting equipment, checking affected areas, and supporting access where standard vehicles may not be suitable.

The truck serves as an important support vehicle for storm response, utility assignments, and other incidents where additional mobility and carrying capacity are needed.

 


Crisfield Fire Department Apparatus

1884–2018

The Crisfield Fire Department has operated a wide range of fire, rescue, marine, command, tanker, ladder, and utility apparatus throughout its history. The following listing documents known apparatus used by the department from its early hand and steam-era equipment through modern fire apparatus.


Historic Apparatus

1885 Clapp & Jones Steam Engine

Purchased new in 1885 and rebuilt by the Clapp & Jones Company in 1900. The unit is now retired but remains on the company roll and is currently in storage.

The original brass emblem was mounted on both sides of the engine. An original brass plaque was also mounted upon completion of the 1900 rebuild.


Marine and Command Units

Marine 2

2003 Boston Whaler
Former Maryland Department of Natural Resources patrol boat equipped with a 150-horsepower Johnson motor and galvanized trailer.

Command 2

1996 Chevrolet Suburban
Purchased from the Delmar Fire Department and placed in service in 2006. The unit was damaged during Hurricane Sandy and removed from service in January 2013.

Command 2

2005 Ford Expedition
Placed in service in March 2013.


Utility and Jeep Apparatus

Circa 1940 Army Willys Jeep
Former Civil Defense vehicle. In service from the early 1970s until the mid-1980s.

1916 American LaFrance Type 45 Combination Pumper
Purchased new on August 2, 1916. Serial No. 1248. Very little information is available on this unit.

Engine 2

1925 American LaFrance Type 75
Chain-drive engine with solid tires. Serial No. 5072. Purchased new and remained in service until the late 1950s.

Engine 3

1928 American LaFrance Type 91
Serial No. 2279. Purchased new and remained in service until the early 1960s.

Engine 3 / Later Engine 203

1965 Mack C Series
Purchased new and remained in service until 1998.

Engine 203 — Second Generation

2002 Pierce Dash
Purchased new and placed in service in 2002.

Engine 4 — First Generation

1940 International / W.S. Darley Fire Truck
Purchased new and remained in service until the mid-1960s.

Engine 4 / Later Engine 204

1975 Mack CF Series
Purchased new and remained in service until 2001.

2005 GMC Custom Brush Unit
Purchased new and placed in service in 2005.

1951 GMC / American LaFrance
Serial No. B1946. Purchased new on September 12, 1951, and remained in service until the mid-1960s.

Purchased new and remained in service until 1986.

2012 Pierce PIC Dry Side Tanker
Equipped with a 3,000-gallon tank and 1,000 GPM pump. Placed in service in January 2013.

Purchased new and placed in service in 1986.
