At 2:46 p.m., the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 1090 block of Puppy Hole Court for a reported transformer fire. The caller stated they heard a loud explosion and saw flames near a ground transformer.

Command 2 responded with Assistant Chief Cavanaugh and one engineer.

Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Cavanaugh established command. At first, there was nothing evident pending investigation, with the Crisfield Police Department already on scene.

The investigation revealed that a bird had struck a fuse drop and fallen to the ground, causing a small brush fire. The fire was extinguished before crews arrived. The utility pole number was provided to Somerset 911, and Delmarva Power was requested to respond. The situation was placed under control.

Command was terminated, and Command 2 cleared the scene and returned to quarters.
